Person in charge (PIC) Internationalization of UMM delegation from the Faculty of Islamic Religion, Hasnan Bachtiar, MIMWADV along with other PICs from all faculties, attended the "Workshop on Internationalization of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang."

The program held at the Kapal Garden Hotel, Sengkaling on Wednesday 29/01/2020, according to Professor Syamsul Arifin as Vice Chancellor 1 for Academic Affairs, was a strategic step to push UMM towards an internationally accredited campus.

Mathieu Mergans, UMM Assistant Chancellor for Internationalization stated that, "It should be that our faculties need to promote cooperation with various other faculties from world-renowned campuses. We need to make collaboration in the form of research collaboration, student exchanges, internships, community service or community service. and so forth."

Meanwhile, Dr. Latipun, Head of the International Relations Office (IRO), explained that, through the PIC of each faculty, UMM tried to conduct an initial assessment and would monitor the entire internationalization of all faculties.

When presenting his data before the audience, Hasnan explained that, currently FAI - through the Islamic Family Law Study Program (IPR) - is collaborating research with the European Institute University (EUI), Florence, Italy, in the field of "Religion, globalization and secularity." This program is projected to produce publications in the publisher Routledge in 2021.

In addition, FAI also has academic collaboration with the Department of Malay Studies, National University of Singapore (NUS). Both parties have held several public lectures, seminars and workshops in the fields of religion, social life and student activism.

Meanwhile, another form of collaboration was visiting professor, Professor Moncef Ben Abdeljelil from Ecole Normale Superiure, Tunisia, who was conducting research on Muhammadiyah at UMM. In addition, various universities from Saudi Arabia also routinely send their lecturers in order to teach Arabic in the faculty.

Another form of cooperation that is being explored by FAI is, trying to work with various educational institutions in Singapore and Malaysia, which will send its students to study at FAI UMM. According to Professor Tobroni, Dean of FAI, this is very important and significant in welcoming the accreditation of the "Nine Criteria" study program and the international accreditation of universities.

As a result of the workshops, the speakers, facilitators and participants realized that the mastery of international languages โ€‹โ€‹(especially English) by lecturers and students was absolutely necessary. Then the most important are three things: the first is a serious academic climate (global quality research), massive international publications (involving students) and extensive international networks.
